Breakfast Links Love Bacon
March 8, 2008
This is the first of my weekly link posts where I’ll highlight interesting articles that I’ve found. Also, I would like to thank the readers that have come to my site and commented over the past week, as today wraps up the end of my first week of blogging. Here are some interesting reads for your Saturday morning.
Are you ever disappointed that your salads are just too healthy? Serious Eats has the remedy with these Bacon Bowls. Mmmmm…..bacon…..
Here is a slight debunking of Iron Chef by a writer who attended a taping. But come on, the author couldn’t go in to that believing the chefs really had no idea what the secret ingredient would be before starting. There is no way they could be that efficient after 20 seconds of huddling.
Yogurt and Thyme dressing over at Serious Eats. Looks good.
If you want to grow herbs indoors. I was thinking about trying this next year.
Tuscan Bean Soup at startcooking. Looks pretty tasty and that is a great site overall. Check it out.
A good guide at The Paupered Chef for making your own chicken stock. I’ve never done it before, but it doesn’t look too hard.
What’s Cooking has an interesting post on the uses of baking soda.
I’d never heard of speck before this post, but it looks pretty good. Is it readily available in supermarkets?
A nice overview of tea from startcooking.
Good tips for cooking rice on the stove at The Kitchn.
Have a good Saturday.

all of these articles are great! I really like some of the stuff you’re doing on here.
I made my own chicken stock last night with the bones/skin from a roast chicken I made sunday. it’s so worth it. the difference in flavor between that and canned is startling.

Thats great. I’ve never made stock before, but it is something I am definitely interested. Sounds like it might be worth it if the difference in flavor is so great. Although I guess I have to roast a chicken first or something…
