Welcome! My name is Andy and I am the creator of this site, The New Cook.

Right now, I don’t know how to cook. My one year spent cooking for myself consisted of pot after pot of macaroni and cheese. While it was delicious, I want to do more. I want to learn how to cook. On this site I will chronicle my attempts in the kitchen.

Here you will find simple recipes that you can learn by heart, reviews of vital kitchen equipment, cooking techniques, profiles on individual foods, their history, science, and my personal successes (and failures) in the kitchen. This will not merely be a site of recipes, but rather an attempt to learn about food and the art of cooking. I want to make cooking a fun and enjoyable part of everyday life. I want to be able to create fresh meals out of what’s on hand in the kitchen instead of popping frozen Mexi-Minis in the microwave.
