Breakfast Links Give Out Awards
April 12, 2008
Instead of my usual Saturday link post, I am catching up today on some awards and a six word memoir about myself.
First, Mrs. W. tagged me to make a six word meme that describes myself. It is not an easy task, but here I am, summarized in six words:
- Honest
- Friendly
- Competitive
- Curious
- Arrogant
- Humble
Here are the rules for those who choose to continue:
- Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like;
- Link to the person who tagged you in your post;
- Tag five more blogs with links;
- Remember to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
Second, both Mrs. W. at Mrs. W’s Kitchen and Joy at Joy of Desserts awarded me with an Excellent Blog award. A hearty thank you goes out to both of them. Go read their blogs - they’re good stuff. I don’t have FTP access right now, so the image that goes with it will be added in tomorrow. Anyway, I have the pleasure of choosing 10 more blogs to give this award to. Without further ado:
- The Simple Dollar: One of my hobbies is personal finance (I know, I am weird and a dork), but Trent writes an excellent blog geared towards personal finance with some self improvement and career advice wedged in. The man has over 30,000 subscribers and just recently quit his job to become a full time blogger. In May he will be launching his own cooking blog which will quickly dwarf most of the food blog world if my prediction is correct.
- Start Cooking: This blog and website is one of my favorites. Kathy gives excellent instruction on cooking normal foods. She also has great videos for some recipes. It is really a superb website.
- A Hamburger Today: I thought I loved hamburgers, but my love is nothing compared to Adam Kuban’s, the primary author. He has nearly a post a day on hamburgers. Impressive.
- What’s Cooking?: Ben grew up learning to cook Mexican food in the restaurant his parents owned. He has a great site, pictures, and recipes. I have seen that he already has one of these but…that’s ok. It’s a good blog.
- The Paupered Chef: This is an interesting blog that investigates methods of making things from scratch. Most of this stuff you wouldn’t do frequently, like making your own cured meats, but it is an interesting read.
- Alosha’s Kitchen: This is another blog from someone learning to cook. She has some great looking recipes. Good read.
- ProBlogger: Darren doesn’t need this award, but I am listing it because it is a great source of information for bloggers. Just in case anyone doesn’t know about.
- Kalofagas: I just started reading this blog, but I really like it so far. It covers Greek food and Peter has a very enjoyable writing style. I visited Greece this past summer and loved the food (especially the pastries, anyone have a good bougatsa recipe?), so I can’t wait to try some of these recipes.
- Passionate About Baking: Deeba, the author, lives in India and offers much more than just recipes for baking. I really need to try some of her recipes.
- Zen Habits: Not a food blog, but it is a great blog about simplifying your life and self improvement.
Thank you again to Mrs. W’s Kitchen and Joy of Desserts, and congratulations to all the winners. These are great blogs, go read them.
Here are the rules for award winners:
- Find at least 10 more blogs of any kind which you deem to be excellent;
- Post about which blogs you picked, linking to me and to them;
- Once you’ve posted, return here to let me know your post is up, and of course let your 10 award winners know, too.
- If you’ve already received this award in the past, I won’t hold you to selecting 10 more.
I am changing it a little bit and allowing winning bloggers to award 10 more blogs and/or do the six word meme about themselves. Whatever is their preference. I hope you enjoy some of these other great blogs.
