Breakfast Links Never Attended Culinary School
April 19, 2008
It is another wonderful Saturday morning and I have another great crop of links for you to read while you put off doing your spring yard work.
- The Amateur Gourmet looks into Jacques Pepin’s Complete Techniques. Apparently Tom Colicchio, most well known for his role as a judge on Top Chef, never attended culinary school. Instead he learned to cook from this book. I think it’s great that there is a book that can teach you real culinary art.
- Elise at Simply Recipes has a technique for storing fresh herbs. I’ve read a couple articles on this, so I am thinking about trying a few techniques at the same time to get a good comparison.
- Mrs. W at Mrs. W’s Kitchen makes her own ricotta-esque cheese. It is a really cool experiment and turned out well for her.
- How to Cook Like Your Grandmother has a recipe for homemade onion rings. Fried onion rings are delicious, so I had to link it.
- A Passion for Food has a fun narrative about a lunch she made in New York City. If your mouth is not watering by the end of the story, you probably didn’t read it.
- Ben at What’s Cooking? has a very funny, though only mildly food related video from Improv Everywhere showing a spontaneous musical in a mall food court.
- Last, Kathy at Start Cooking has a Beginner’s Guide to Polenta. I’ve never made it, so I am keeping this one bookmarked.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
