Month in Review - March 2008
April 1, 2008
The New Cook has now been live for one month and I want to thank everyone who has visited and commented. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, especially the food blog community. Thank you.
Next, I would like to highlight the more popular posts from this past month as well as one of my favorites:
- Where Cookbooks Fail - This post received the most comments and I got some great advice.
- History of Cheese - Surprisingly enough my post on the history of cheese received the highest number of individual pageviews.
- Chef’s Knife - Essential Equipment - The discussion of chef’s knives received the second highest number of comments.
- Lettuce Wrap Up - This was one of my favorite posts because it has helped me already when looking at lettuce in the grocery store. I am no longer quite as befuddled.
Because there is always so much to do on a blog, I have decided to focus on improving one aspect of my blog per month. For April I am going to work on the content. Nothing else matters if the content isn’t worth reading. Future months will include: photography, site design, increasing readership, and advertising. I always welcome your feedback to improve the site.
Thank you!

Hey Andy,
Congratulations on your first month. It is a great start and I have learned new things on your blog, too. Keep up the great work!

Hey Ben! I agree with you. Andy’s doing great for his first month of blogging. He’s got ads, comments, and most important GREAT CONTENT.
(It took me four months of blogging before I saw my first comment.)

Sounds like a great plan, Andy. I’m adding you to my blog reader and I’m looking forward to seeing this site grow.
