Mangled Pancakes

Date July 12, 2008

I decided to make some pancakes in my new cast iron skillet (a wonderful birthday gift from my mom). I cooked eggs in the skillet a few weeks ago and found the surface fairly non-stick, so I assumed I could get away without buttering or oiling the pan.

Unfortunately, I was wrong…very wrong. My pancakes stuck like Pogs in 1992. With my second two pancakes, I put down some butter before pouring in my batter, and that worked, but the damage had already been done…

Man I had all those damn POGS!!! I happened to be a tween vacationing in Hawaii right as they were exploding there. Very cool Andy. Sorry about the pancakes, never had that problem-we use so much oil our pancakes are essentiall deep fried.

I remember pogs, but in Mexico they were called something else… tazos I think. Everybody was into that s**t. LOL

Sorry about your pancakes. I always use butter before pouring my batter into the pans even if they are non-stick. Pancakes is one of those things that ALWAYS stick.

@Katie: Mmmmm….deep fried pancakes. I like the sound of that.

@Ben: Tazos, eh? I never knew that. And yeah, I guess they do always stick. I have now learned from experience.
