Breakfast Links Catch Up
August 23, 2008
I know breakfast links have been dormant for a few weeks, but now that I’ve gotten settled into my new apartment, hopefully I’ll be able to get to them more regularly. There may be a slight change, however, as the college football season starts Thursday. As a University of Michigan fan, I’ll be a bit preoccupied on Saturdays for breakfast links, so their normal day will become Sunday. And with post-game breakfast links comes a chance of some depressing posts.
Recipe of the Week:
Pajeon - Amanda at Mrs. W’s Kitchen makes an interesting Korean dish that I’d never seen before. They look pretty tasty, especially with that dipping sauce.
Links:
- eat me, delicious has a Key Lime Pie recipe. I’ve only made one pie in my life, and that has been apple. So I might have to give this a shot.
- Katie at Chaos in the Kitchen teaches how to cut a mango. I tried this once and sort of butchered it, so I’ll need to read this more closely the next time I try it.
- Drew has a recipe for homemade vanilla ice cream at How to Cook Like Your Grandmother. Once I get a hold of my girlfriend’s ice cream maker, I really want to start experimenting with some ice creams.
- More than Burnt Toast has fried zucchini balls. Mmmmm…..fried….
- Deeba makes beignets, a type of french donut, at Passionate about Baking. Any sort of donut must be good.
- We just bought some peaches at the store, so Jessica’s overview of peaches at Start Cooking is quite timely. And what’s better than a fresh peach?
- Katy at Sugarlaws made roasted aparagus with garlic aioli. The aioli just looks so interesting and delicious (something I’ve never made before) that it deserved a link.
- Ben makes a green grape and zucchini gazpacho at What’s Cooking. It sounds interesting and he says it’s delicious.
- Boscoe the Cookie Doctor made Orange Brownies. They look a little funny, but apparently they are good.

Hey Andy,
Thanks for the mention. Yes, they do indeed look funny. However, they are out of this world. My friend Lori @ Recipe Girl also made these, and she was surprised and delighted. Give them a try. I’m sure, if you like orange, you’ll become a fan of these.

Hi there Andrew…how’ve you been? Thanks for looking up those donuts & for adding me to your list. The dough was a bit fiddly & sticky. But the beignets & donuts were something else altogether… light & delicious! My first shot at yeast donuts & certainly not my last!!! Those orange brownies sound ever so interesting. Did you see the Greenies (green brownies)? I think I saw them at Clumsy Cook!! Oh, this is such fun!!!
Have a great day…Cheers
